So you may be noticing that there’s plenty of blacks & greys this Fall for clothing…nothing wrong with that but such colours (or to get technical, “non-colours”) can get drab & boring after wearing them all season long.

You may be noticing some changes around Fresh Collective over the coming months, starting with our new storefront (new sign to come too!) While we loved our old bright red front, it seemed time for a change, and with all the color and fun in our products, we thought a neutral framework showed off our merchandise best. Our door and entryway are due for a repaint- we're waiting for less humid weather- but those will remain a nice bright red to lead you right in the door!
Our fall fashions are in and more arriving every day! We've heard you customers- you love our fun and funky styles, but we know you also need clothing and accessories to wear to work. We've got a great selection of cool work wear, and lots of gorgeous accessories to top off any outfit.

Fresh Baked Goods has a great selection of dresses in sizes 4-18! Our corduroys are machine wash and dry, and our styles are cut to flatter. At Fresh Collective, the clothing is designed by real women for real women- and we can often alter or make custom when need be.
Every outfit needs the perfect bag and we have the perfect selection from three different Toronto designers: Moira Coughlan, Cipolla and Integrity Designs.

Mandala Designs is a favourite for many of our customers, and no wonder! Designer Mandy Armstrong has the knack for making wearable clothes with personality!
Foundlings is a newer on the scene at Fresh Collective, and the designer, Hannah Richardson, brings with her fresh ideas with a vintage flair.
Paper People Clothing has in a huge selection of her popular sweaters, shrugs and knit dresses. Each one so different, you'll always find something to love. Foundlings (below) is also bringing a fresh take on reclaimed sweaters this fall.

Moira's been busy at work sewing up her "fashion meets function" bags. Known and loved for her simple designs, Moira's been shakin' and shimmying things up a bit with her gorgeous fringe line! I caved in to temptation and got myself one yesterday- oh the danger of working in the shop! You can read about my love affair with my green fringe bag here.

If the fringe is just a bit much for you, try one of Moira's simpler styles, like her classic Bonnie Bag. She has lots of colours in stock, including a sunny mustard yellow!

The latest rings from Odd Bird have arrived, they are fun cocktail rings featuring tiny critters set among German Glitter!

German Glitter isn’t like the ordinary glitter found at craft & Dollar stores.

It’s a special multi-stage process that involves coating the glass with pure silver, firing at a high temperature,coating & firing again, then ground into different grain sizes. No clear glass is ever added as filler and the entire process is done by hand.

A rabbit with attitude: the bunny image says “cute” but the shirt says “bad” ha ha!
The Burn-out material is really neat. It’s a poly-cotton blend that then has the poly “burnt” out, creating a vintage/worn look while being super soft & comfy to wear!

The Foxy Moroccan Top
The popular Fox image returns, this time on a stretchy gauze top with a moroccan style neck. The neck opening is quite the deep plunge so be sure to wear it over another top (unless your feeling rather daring!)

The new Odd Bird Fall attire has arrived in the store!

This season Odd Bird has gone into the woods for a forest creature theme:

It's back to school for these little birdies! They are having singing lessons on a charcoal Polo/Tennis shirt style dress.

A preppy-but-yet-fun statement!

Next we have the "Foxy Topsy" which is a blazing orange U-neck (a nice change when your tired of v-necks but still want to show some cleavage!) with half-sleeves featuring a sly little Fox.

Oh this scarf is a real "hoot." It features a rather cheeky owl giving you a wink!

You're going to go "nuts" over this skirt: a little grey squirrel nibbling an acorn on a mini. These mini- skirts work well when worn over thick leggings or pants. It's California fleece on the inside which keeps you cozy on cool Fall days without being too heavy.

Sarah doesn't just sing, she's a visual artist too! She created the lady design used on the domino on the right. While these particular pendants will not be for sale in the store, you will be able to get them via Sarah Slean's website or at concert venues on her tour.

Alyssa is one of our newest members and she's not only one smart cookie and a hard worker, she's serious about her commitment to helping the environment and producing her line ethically. On top of all this, she's got a funny side, always ready for a laugh. Alyssa works at Fresh Collective on Tuesdays, and is known for her one-of-a-kind upcycled cardigans and sweaters with her crazy stitched-on appliques.

Paper People's Super Springy Sash Dress

One of my most feminine pieces, the sash dress is made from organic jersey (bamboo and soy or organic cotton) and comes in black, purple, green and burgundy. The sash is made from a strip of jersey, recycled silk and a delicate cotton pompom like trim. The purple, green and burgundy dresses are hand dyed for colour depth and variation.I just brought the black dresses in last week, and the colours should arrive sometime this week.

Paper People Spring Shrugs

Another favourite of mine is the "doillie shrug". This shrug is a really innovative drapey design. It comes in cotton/silk/acrylic blend sweaters, so it's cool, breathable and non itchy. The best feature is the back cut out which is embellished with a vintage lace doillie. Come check them out soon!

This is one of my favourite new spring styles. It's made from the thinnest bamboo jersey and features with a delicate ruffle trim and teenie tiny buttons. It comes in brown with purple trim, sage with burgundy trim and burgundy with pale green trim.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! We shot 1200 pictures at this shoot, and after editing, we still had hundreds of pictures of amazing, different outfits! This spring is shaping up to be the best ever at Fresh Collective! We have a fabulous mix of clothing, accessories and jewellery all by independent Toronto designers. We designers share the expenses and work of running the store, taking turns working a day a week in the shop. We are obsessed with our lines, busily making things in our studios all week, then bringing fresh armloads in to the shop each week. Often, you'll see our designer/members at work making new stock on our big back work table, or even on the cash desk.

With about 20 designers involved, we have a terrific range of fresh stock, and new arrivals all the time! I find our shop is full of cute stuff that can be made "your own" by adding your own accessories! I just love being able to help someone find the perfect outfit for them- whatever their style! Here's Mandy Armstrong, the designer behind Mandala Designs modeling one of her own dresses. "Modern Fashion, Vintage Vibe" is what her look is all about! Her spring 2009 line is a work in progress. We've seen some samples and they are cute as anything! I have my eye on this dress for myself, but then again, I have my eye on a heck of a lot of stuff in the shop!! This is Tricia Mulhern, our newest member modeling a dress from her line Spruce Clothing. Although I've known Tricia for a while, when I finally saw her full collection at the One of a Kind show, I told her, "OK, you are now number one on my list of people I hope join Fresh Collective!" And so, she took the leap and joined up.

This line is going to be really popular! The cuts are flattering, cute, stylish and classic. The styles are just a bit funky and off-beat but not too much so, and wearable for everyday. You'll see embroidered details, like this bird shown here, and lots of retro influence too. And, as a serious bonus, Tricia is offering the rest of her Fall/Winter line at 40% off! The section is fully stocked right now, but the stuff won't last long at this price. Introducing Nicole Boudreau!

Nicole is one of our many fabulous designers at Fresh Collective. She's been with us over a year now, and her business just keeps growing and growing. When she joined us, she was "just" a jewellery designer with her line Precious Pink Designs.... I say "just" because she's since expanded into skirts and aprons for her line "Desserts and Skirts". She recently moved her production into a gorgeous studio, and I'm sure I'll see Nicole go full speed ahead throughout 2009!

Here she is at a photo shoot for her aprons, goofing around as usual! Nicole is an awesome lady- super fun, funny, positive, hard working and all in all just a cool person to be around. I love it when my schedule gets switched around and I get to spend a Tuesday working with her at the shop!

And Nicole is just one of the many personalities that keep Fresh Collective the fabulous beehive of creative energy that it is! With almost 20 local designers sharing the space and selling their work, there's always something going on in the shop, and if it's a Tuesday when Nicole works in the shop, it's often something funny!

We noticed a theme of cute dog themed stuff in the shop: necklaces, tops, and more, so we made a special window for all the dog lovers out there. It was a good excuse to make some new dog stuff too, so Utility Grade made a new top with a greyhound on it, and Fresh Baked Goods whipped up some super cute dresses with an appliqued dog silhouette, plus Margie jewellery made up some of her metal necklaces with cutout silhouettes with dogs.... so if you love dogs as much as we do, stop in and see our fabulous fashions, jewellery and more with great dog images!
